Together on the way to a mobility lab
Despite numerous initiatives in the field of soft mobility, dependence on motorized private transport and private cars is still very high in the Weiz-Gleisdorf energy region. Changes in our everyday mobility behavior are urgently needed in order to move towards a sustainable future together. WEGBEREITER is intended to prepare a mobility laboratory and experimental space for innovative policy measures with and in the Weiz-Gleisdorf energy region.
Aims of the mobility laboratory
- Support the strengthening of active mobility and integrated mobility (MaaS - Mobility as a Service)
- The design of a liveable and high-quality public space
- Changing residents' behavior with regard to means of transportation
- Testing regulatory and economic incentives and restrictions
One focus of WEGBEREITER is the active involvement of the region's residents.
What does active mobility mean?
Active mobility includes all forms of movement that are entirely (or partially) muscle-powered, e.g. walking and cycling.
What does MaaS mean?
MaaS stands for "Mobility as a service" and means that various mobility services (such as public transport, car and bike sharing, (shared) cabs, etc.) are bundled into a single platform. Users can then select their desired means of transportation via this platform and pay for it straight away. Mobility thus becomes a service and you are no longer dependent on your own car to get around the region.
